SQL... is it time for something new?
I was recently reading an article in DM Review talking about what is needed for the Business Intelligence world. One suggestion was to get rid of SQL. The author sited that it is one of the big weaknesses.
I don't agree.
SQL is what gives Business Intelligence it's strength. It is an easy to use and learn language that has become a standard for database queries and operations. I don't understand why we need to move away from this. In addition, supplementary languages (like Oracle's PL/SQL) are very useful and can even be object oriented.
Move away from SQL? I say... NO WAY!
